Historische und rechtliche Entwicklung der Menschenrechte von der Magna Charta über die Bill of Rights zur französischen und amerikanischen Menschenrechtserklärung. Menschenrechte in der deutschen Geschichte als kumulative Problemlösung für konfessionelle und weltanschauliche Konflikte, z. B. Westfälischer Frieden von 1648, Paulskirchenverfassung von 1848, Weimarer Verfassung von 1919, Allgemeine Erklärung der Menschenrechte (1948) und Deutsches Grundgesetz (1949). Epochaler Wettkampf zwischen westlichen individualistischen Menschenrechten und theologisch fundierten kollektiven Rechten des islamischen Kulturkreises. Menschenrechtspolitik als außenpolitisches Instrument der westlichen Staaten. Problem der Legitimität der humanitären Intervention; Vergleich mit der Intervention westlicher Staaten und Russlands gegenüber dem Osmanischen Reich im 19. Jahrhundert.
