Courses are together with exams the building blocks for modules. Please keep in mind that information on the contents, learning outcomes and, especially examination conditions are given on the module level only – see section "Assignment to Modules" above.
additional remarks |
This seminar addresses current problems in experimental semiconductor physics related to the ongoing thesis work of bachelor, master and PhD students. Topics covered include
(i) the deposition of semiconductor thin films by methods such as molecular beam epitaxy, chemical vapour deposition, atomic layer epitaxy, evaporation or spray coating,
(ii) modification and nanostructuring of thin films by lithography and/or chemical functionalization,
(iii) the characterization of semiconductors with a wide variety of experimental techniques such as structural and chemical characterization ( microscopy, Raman scattering, infrared spectroscopy, photoemission spectroscopy, etc.), characterization of optical and electronic properties ( electronic transport, impedance, cyclic voltammetry, absorption and reflection spectroscopy, luminescence, defect spectroscopy, spin resonance),
(iv) the realization of prototype semiconductor devices and the investigation of their relevant device properties. |
