| additional remarks | Bei ihrer Entstehung mussten die Menschenrechte gegen die Machtinteressen absolutistischer Staaten erkämpft werden. Wie ist es heutzutage? Entwicklungen von Demokratien und Menschenrechten ergeben ein unterschiedliches Bild. Während in den westlichen Demokratien die Bürgerfreiheit durch Überwachung in Gefahr gerät, gibt es in Afrika, in Indien und in Teilen Asiens autochthon-ursprüngliche Traditionen, die einen Prozess der Aufnahme der Menschenrechte in unterschiedlicher Weise zeigen. Auch belegen die Entwicklungen in Ägypten und Tunesien, dass demokratische Auffassungen der Menschenrechte teils eine Chance haben (Tunesien), teils vor der Furcht vor der Herrschaft der Muslimbrüder kapitulieren müssen (Ägypten). Statt Fortschritte auf dem Weg zu einer neuen Weltordnung, finden in Syrien und Irak Religionskriege statt, die an den 30-jährigen Krieg in Deutschland erinnern. Die Veranstaltung untersucht in Diskussionen und Referaten neben diesen Aspekten auch die Frage, welche Bedeutung die Menschenrechte für die moderne Weltordnung haben können. Literatur Wird in der Veranstaltung angegeben bzw. ausgeteilt. |
