Master’s Program Quantum Science & Technology
This page gives an overview of the curriculum in the Master’s program Quantum Science & Technology and links current informationen for students. Prospective applicants can find detailed information on the study program in description of M. Sc. Quantum Science & Technology.
The first year of this interdisciplinary Master’s program focuses mainly on fundamental introductory lectures and lab courses, while the second year focuses on the research within the framework of the Master’s thesis.
|PH1009 QST Experiment: Quantum Hardware||10 CP|
|PH1010 QST Theory: Quantum Information||10 CP|
|Focus Area||30 CP|
|PH1034 Advanced Practical Training||6 CP|
|General Education Subjects||4 CP|
During the study phase, students attend mandatory courses and, additionally, some courses chosen from the catalog of elective courses. Important: the two mandatory modules (PH1009 & PH1010) must be completed in the 1st semester. The elective subjects cover selected topics from the research area Quantum Science & Technology and prepare students for engaging in current research, uniquely reflecting the broad research activity of the cooperating universities TUM and LMU. A scientifically-oriented lab course and a general-education subject round off the profile of this Master’s program.
During the research phase, the students will directly encounter current research topics in Quantum Science & Technology. After an initial familiarization through the Master’s seminar and the Master’s practical training, students will independently work on their Master’s thesis under the guidance of a thesis advisor. During the whole research phase, intensive support will be ensured by mentoring programs involving numerous scientists from all participating research institutions. Students will profit from an excellent research environment and participation in various national and international research networks.
