B.Sc. PhysikEndgültiges Nicht-Bestehen im Bachelorstudiengang Physik

Studierende, die die Grundlagen- und Orientierungsprüfung (GOP) im Bachelorstudiengang Physik nicht bestanden haben, haben den Bachelorstudiengang Physik endgültig nicht bestanden und werden zum Ende des Semesters exmatrikuliert.

B.Sc. PhysikFPSO-Änderung für Studienbeginn ab 1.10.2020

Mit Änderung der FPSO für Studierende ab einem Studienbeginn ab 1.10.2020 ergeben sich insbesondere Anpassungen der Module aus dem dritten Studienjahr, die erstmals im WS 2022/3 wirksam werden. Studierende aus der alten FPSO-Version, die durch die Einschränkungen der Pandemie erheblich hinter dem Studienplan zurückgeblieben sind, sollten einen Wechsel in die neue FPSO-Version erwägen.

B.Sc. PhysikIrregular Study Paths and Deviations from the Curriculum

Students who do not complete all the course work required in the curriculum for a semester due to illness or other reasons need to adjust their course of studies to their personal situation.

Ph.D.Virtual Option for the "Rundlauf" for Acceptance of a Ph.D. Thesis

Contact restrictions during the CoViD-19 pandemic limit the candidates possibilities to obtain the required votes in the classic "Rundlauf" by personal meetings. Hence virtual options are put to the test.

Academic Progress Check in the Study Programs at Physics Department

In principle exams you did not pass may be repeated as often as required – apart from exams of the first year in the Bachelor program (GOP) and required additional fundamental subjects assigned during aptitude assessment for a Master program. But each semester a specified amount of ECTS credits are required which in turn requires the passing of exams.

Proof of Language Proficiency for Application to the Master Programs

With the application to a Master program you need to provide proof of sufficient language skills.

Ph.D.Notes on Publication-Based (Cumulative) Dissertation

Due to possible incompatibility of a publication-based dissertation with the common practices in Physics and resulting current disadvantages and imponderables we strongly commend Ph.D. candidates to hand in a classical monograph.

Ranking of Student Cohorts in the Master’s Programs Physics

In addition to the ECTS grading table issued after completion of the studies students in the Master's programs Physics may receive a ranking within their student cohort at the Dean’s Office.

Course registration (lectures, exercises, student seminars and lab courses)

Registration for lectures, exercises and student seminars is not required in most cases. But there are many benefits. Only for the Physics lab courses registration is mandatory.

"External" Final Theses or Research Phases in Physics Programs

There is the possibility to conduct an "external" thesis or "external" research phase. This means that a thesis or research phase will be worked on by one of the supervisors of the degree program and, in coordination with him/her, a thesis will be written at another university in Germany or abroad, at external research institutions, in a company or business, or the entire research phase will be completed there.

Ph.D.Internationalisation funds of the TUM Graduate school

The TUM Graduate School provides funds for doctoral candidates so that they can attend international conferences and research visits abroad.

Extension of the Thesis’ Deadline

If it is impossible for you to meet the deadline to hand in your thesis due to a reason outside your responsibility, the examination board may grant an extension.

B.Sc. PhysikECTS Grading Table for the Bachelor’s Program in Physics

The grading table according to ECTS gives statistics over all past degrees awarded in the Bachelor’s program in Physics. It thus offers the possibility to rank the own degree.
