additional remarks In recent years, developments around mobility services branched out into a number of different directions. In the automotive industry, on the one hand, IT-based innovations increasingly affect a manufacturer’s competitiveness. Therefore, IT-based services in and around the car gain more and more importance. On the other hand, an increasing number of players on the market regard a user’s mobility from a more holistic point of view, focusing less on the specific mode of transportation and blurring the lines between them. Mixed-mode transportation and the modern sharing economy foster a growing number of heterogeneous mobility services, which seemingly cater more to the user’s individual needs. Other developments specifically address the mobility needs of business, or utilize strategies to generate and analyze large amounts of data to create a competitive advantage, e.g., through Crowdsourcing and Big Data approaches. In this course, students working together in small groups will design and develop novel mobility services based on their own ideas with feedback from supervisors industry partners. Participating students will gain an insight into the fundamentals, operating principles, and opportunities for the development of mobility services. The aim of this course is to design and implement prototypes of innovative mobility services (e.g., in the form of apps). The focus of this term is, among other things, on the exploration of innovative business models based on heterogeneous data sources of urban mobility. Structure of the advanced practical course: • Inspiration: Understand the problem (e.g. unsatisfied customer needs) • Ideation: Develop innovative mobility service • Implementation: Implement your mobility service • Evaluation: Test and evaluate the implemented mobility service. • Communication: Present the results to experts from research and practice – learn how to use presentation and videos to pitch your idea. ***Use 3D cameras to create a proejct video*** More information: www.mobility-services.de.
