additional remarks Goal: Development of innovative mobility service based on open car data from BMW. The competitiveness of automotive manufacturers is heavily affected by IT-based innovations. IT-based services in and around the car have gained more and more importance as differentiating factor between manufacturers. At the same time, mobility evolves towards a holistic service independent from the specific means of transportation. Mixed-mode transportation and the sharing economy foster a growing number of heterogeneous mobility services, which focus more on the user’s individual needs. Further trends center around the mobility needs of businesses, or utilize strategies to generate and analyze large amounts of data to create a competitive advantage, e.g., through crowdsourcing and Big Data approaches. In this course, students will develop innovative mobility services based on open data from real BMW cars. To do so, students will work in small teams to analyze the provided data sets, and to develop an innovative mobility service. The students will gain hands-on experience of methods to identify customer needs and to develop creative ideas. Structure of the advanced practical course: • Inspiration: Understand the problem (e.g., unsatisfied customer needs) • Ideation: Develop innovative mobility service • Implementation: Implement your mobility service • Evaluation: Test and evaluate the implemented mobility service. • Communication: Present the results to experts from research and practice – learn how to use presentation and videos to pitch your idea.
