The dissemination of mobile apps and the possibilities of smart sensor devices (e.g. smart watches, fitness wrists or smart scales) comes along with a wider acceptance among people in daily life, using these personal tracking devices for Self-Monitoring. During des usage of such apps and devices, users leave „digital traces“. This context-rich information (profile, context, sensors, …) can be used by a data platform to generate a "digital twin" which is used to predict possible future food intakes. Therefore, individualized health feedback and nutrition recommendations can be given and unhealthy food choices might be avoided before being made.
Participating students will gain an insight into the fundamentals, operating principles, and opportunities for mobile health service development in the area of healthier living styles.
The aim of this course is to design and implement prototypes for innovative health services. In this Semester, we want to bring the idea "Virtual Dietary Advisor" alive. Students will therefore, in various technical teams (5 persons per team), develop protoypes that tackle with the problem of healthy eating.
Structure of the advanced practical course:
• Inspiration: Understand the problem (e.g. it-based motivation for enhancing health behaviour)
• Ideation: Develop creative solutions for an innovative health service
• Implementation: Development of the service
• Evaluation: Test the implemented health service
• Communication: Present the results to experts from science and practice |
