Further Information

Courses are together with exams the building blocks for modules. Please keep in mind that information on the contents, learning outcomes and, especially examination conditions are given on the module level only – see section "Assignment to Modules" above.

additional remarks Designing a new jet engine is a great challenge for engineers and engine manufacturers. New principles of design and construction tools must be combined with mature technology to guarantee all the requirements. The lecture gives an overview over different design concepts in the past and the present, a variety of requirements like operational reliability, mechanical strength, low cycle fatigue (LCF) and high cycle fatigue (HCF), materials, manufacturing and installation. The design issues that must be addressed in designing of the engine components (e.g. combustor, turbine, etc.) are discussed.
