Further Information

Courses are together with exams the building blocks for modules. Please keep in mind that information on the contents, learning outcomes and, especially examination conditions are given on the module level only – see section "Assignment to Modules" above.

additional remarks The content of the lecture includes the following topics:- Basics properties of superconductors and superconducting materials (different types of superconducting materials, superconductors in a magnetic field, type-I and type-II superconductors, thermodynamic properties)- Phenomenological description of superconductivity (London theory, superconductivity as a macroscopic quantum phenomenon, Ginzburg-Landau theory)- Flux quantization, Josephson effects- Overview over microscopic BCS theory- Critical currents- Application of superconductivity- Unconventional superconductors (e.g. cuprates, iron-pnictides)
