additional remarks --- This course will give you access to the course materials of the last summer term. There will be three online live sessions via Zoom: One at the beginning of the semster to discuss organizational matters, one in Dezember where you can pose questions regarding the exercises and one at the end of the semester to answer any questions regarding the exam.--- The human factor is often mentioned as the major cause for unspecified functioning of technical systems or even serious events like accidents or incidents. The lecture will first describe the functional relationships of human and technical reliability as well as the causes why human influences are of high importance today. Based on these considerations, methods will be described how human failures can be analyzed, assessed and avoided by increasing the total reliability of the whole system. Further on, methods will be described, how event can be analyzed regarding human factor issues. The methods for assessment as well as for evaluation of events are demonstrated with real events happened in the fields of process-industry and transport (aviation, traffic).
