In addition, it would be useful if you sent me an email (alex.lenz@tum.de) with the following content : subject: micromouse lab course content: short paragraph on motivation and your background (e.g. bachelor's degree) and other experiences. -------- The micromouse competition is an event where relatively small robotic mice compete in a 16 x 16 (or 32 x 32) cell maze. In brief, robots are required to autonomously mapthe maze, by finding the optimal route to the centre. Once found, the mouse should run that route (beginning at the start) in the shortest time. In this course, we use the micromouse competition specification to develop together a competitive 'mouse'. This includes the compilation of a workable specification, selection of hardware components, circuit design, embedded software design, as well tackling the closed and open-loop control problems in terms of sensing, algorithmic implementation and driver development. At the higher level, mapping strategies need to be implemented and appropriate tools for testing developed and deployed. Of course, testing during and after the development phase as well as the generation of appropriate documentation is essential. Since the developed robot will be used on the coming years for teaching purposes (embedded software), issues like costs, open-source tools and simplicity (amongst others) will also be considered when making design choices. |
