additional remarks About 50% of the annual primary energy consumption in Germany is caused by buildings. Against the background of accelerated global warming as well as the more and more decreasing fossil resources, a promising possibility to solve these problems can be found in the area of energy efficient or solar architecture. Mainly in the education of future generations of architects and engineers, the lecture "Energy Optimization for Buildings" finds itself in the responsibility to show possibilities for sustainable supply and erection of energy efficient buildings. Contents Energy situation in the Federal Republic of Germany; General influences on the energy balance of buildings; Inner influences: humans (comfort), machinery, lighting etc.; Outer influences: temperature, humidity, wind and radiation; Energy consumption for erection of buildings; Building physics: layout of the building structure; set-up of walls, windows, roof and cellar; influence of heat insulation and heat storage; Optimization criteria for buildings; Building physics of double-skin facades; Guidelines for heat demand and heat protection of buildings; Systems engineering: heating and domestic water plants, ventilation- and air conditioning plants, solar installations, heat pumps, heat recovery and heat transformation; Energy supply with local power plants and fuel cells.
