additional remarks The course will introduce the fundamentals of radiation protection. It will show how to control and protect against ionizing radiation, by introducing and practically using the most important mathematical and computer program techniques employed today in the design and analysis of radiation protection devices. Main Topics: • Characterization of Radiation and its sources. • Interaction of Radiation with Matter: Photons, Electrons, neutrons, ions. • Basic Methods for Radiation Dose Calculations. • Deterministic and Stochastic (Monte-Carlo) based design methods for radiation shielding and protection. • Radiation Protection Regulations and Laws in Germany and Europa
