additional remarks Die Anregung von Gasen durch Gasentladungen oder Teilchenstrahlen ist von faszinierenden physikalischen Prozessen begleitet. Denken Sie an Naturphämomene wie Blitz, Elmsfeuer oder Polarlichter. Bei technischen Anwendungen tritt die Gasentladung so vielgestaltig auf, dass sie wohl oft gar nicht als zusammenhängendes Gebiet gesehen wird: Leuchtstofflampen, Geigerzähler, die neuen Autoscheinwerfer mit Kurzbogenlampen, Plasmadisplays, die Entladungen in He-Ne Justierlasern oder gepulsten Excimerlasern, Plasmaschalter und Hochfrequenzentladungen für Trockenätzprozesse bei der Chipherstellung und vieles mehr. Durch die extrem große Variationsbreite der Parameter, wie Gasart, Gasdruck, Art der Stromleitung, kontinuierlich, gepulst oder als Teilchenstrahl, gibt es immer wieder überraschende Neuentdeckungen und neue technische Entwicklungen, von denen wir in der Vorlesung ausgewählte Beispiele betrachten werden.
