additional remarks Thecourse will present in detail the plans for the use of nuclear energy for the future, concentrating on the new reactor designs under development, new nuclear fuel cycles, and on advanced areas of application, such as ship propulsion, space exploration, production of hydrogen and fuels, desalination and compact nuclear reactors. Main topics: • The perspectives and uses of nuclear energy in the future. • Advanced nuclear energy systems in use today and in the near term. • Future developments of nuclear energy: the new reactor designs for the XXI century. • Nuclear reactors based on the use of new fuels: Thorium fuel cycle. • Fusion Reactors. • Non-power applications of nuclear reactors: Ship and Rocket Propulsion, Space applications, Hydrogen production and water desalination.
