The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2015 assess individual subjects and compares universities. The subject ranking is based on surveys of 85062 academics and 41910 employers taken over the last five years as well as the number of citations per scientific publication in each subject. For this, reference was made to datasets from the research citations database “Scopus”. A total of 894 universities from around the world were ranked in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2015.

Both Munich universities LMU and TUM are ranked almost equally good at the top of the German universities. LMU is judged slightly stronger by academic reputation; TUM has a better standing among employers.
