additional remarks This course is designed for students currently writing, or about to write, theses or dissertations in English. It combines lectures, individual and group exercises, and workshopping. The content goes beyond mere questions of “correct” grammar or word choice, and emphasizes instead stylistic guidelines for compelling and clear English writing on a high academic level. You will learn here both how to work with generative AI tools -- and why you sometimes shouldn't. Lectures have a slight emphasis on strategies for German speakers but are still appropriate for students from any language background. Students are encouraged to make use of the English Writing Center during or after this course to receive additional one-to-one support.Students writing a paper for submission to a scientific journal, a project studies report for the TUM School of Management, or any other write-up of their research at the TUM are also welcome in the course. Native English speakers can -- and do -- enroll as well.
