additional remarks The lecture provides an insight into the fundamentals and operation of battery storages. The focus is on rechargeable systems as used in mobile devices, electric vehicles, and photovoltaic island systems. - Introduction, terminology, definitions - Introduction into electrochemistry - Thermodynamic fundamentals (equilibrium state) - Kinetics and overvoltages (voltage under current flow) - The electrochemical double layer - Diffusion processes and upstream/downstream reactions - Cell design (different construction principles) - Optimization of batteries for different requirements - Lead-acid batteries, - Alkaline systems, - Li-ion systems and future Li systems - Sodium-ion and solid-state systems
