additional remarks Throughout human history, advances in science and technology have gone hand-in-hand with social change, from early developments in the stone to metal ages, through the industrial revolution, all the way to the digital age and beyond. In this seminar six instructors have chosen works of literature to spark discussions about the interaction betweeen technology and society. You will be able to share your thoughts and explore the topics in writing. The theme this semester is 'over land and sea,' and the syllabus is likely to include Snowpiercer (a graphic novel) by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette, Murder on the Orient Express" by Agatha Christie, The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, Endurance (non-fiction about Shackleton's attempted Antarctic crossing) by Alfred Lansing, and selected short stories by William Somerset Maugham
