Further Information

Courses are together with exams the building blocks for modules. Please keep in mind that information on the contents, learning outcomes and, especially examination conditions are given on the module level only – see section "Assignment to Modules" above.

additional remarks The module deals with the experimental investigation of nanostructured samples in the field of nano & quantum sensing. Here, nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) are used. These are components that are also used in the automotive industry, in smartphones and other mobile communication devices or in the field of quantum information technology. The practical part of the module includes the experimental characterization of the electrodynamic and mechanical properties of the underlying NEMS, as well as their use as force, pressure or temperature sensors. In addition, the students will have the opportunity to visit a clean room facility to get a first glance on state-of-the-art nano fabrication techniques. The practical part is followed by the computer-aided evaluation of the acquired measurement data, a comparison with theoretical models or numerical simulations, and the interpretation of the results.
