Further Information

Courses are together with exams the building blocks for modules. Please keep in mind that information on the contents, learning outcomes and, especially examination conditions are given on the module level only – see section "Assignment to Modules" above.

additional remarks The lecture covers the basic phenomenons present in boundary-layers. Therefore physical models as well as the derivation of the boundary-layer equations from the Navier-Stokes equations are discussed for flat 2-dimensional cases. In addition, temperature, compressible and 3-dimensional boundary-layers are explained. Finally, the stability theory explaining the laminar-turbulent transition, turbulent boundary-layers and experimental research methods are covered. "Part A: Analytical Solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations Part B: Derivation of the boundary-layer equations from the Navier-Stokes equations Part C: Incompressible boundary-layer equations (flat, 2-dimensional flows) Part D: Temperature boundary-layers Part E: Compressible boundary-layers Part F: 3-dimensional boundary-layers Part G: Stability theory Part H: Laminar-turbulent transition Part I: Turbulent boundary-layers Part J: Experimental boundary-layer research"
