additional remarks This module gives an overview of how to develop safe electrical equipment. The following topics will be introduced: • basic standards of functional safety • basic safety and essential performance of medical electrical equipment • identification of safety relevant hardware failures and embedded software failures • identification of safety relevant embedded software failures • error control techniques for medical devices • limitations of non-ideal electronic components (passive and active components, programmable components) • use of non-ideal electronic components in medical devices • basics of PCB board design
