additional remarks | In this course, students gain proficiency in German as a foreign language, including intercultural, regional and academic aspects, enabling them to express themselves independently and confidently in familiar situations, e.g. in the course of studies, work, leisure time and family, as well as talk about subjects of general interest like films, music, sports, etc. in the target language when standard language is employed. Students develop a broader spectrum of vocabulary, expressions and dialog patterns. They expand and use a basic repertoire of logical main and subordinate clauses (e.g. temporal clause, causal sentence, infinitive clause, final clause, consecutive clause, relative clause). They learn and practice the use of reflexive verbs, as well as verbs and nouns with prepositions. Furthermore, students learn and practice the usage of the subjunctive II, the passive and the future tense. They reinforce and expand elementary aspects of grammar, such as the use of tenses, prepositions, the declination of the adjective and the comparison. Students examine specific features of culture with regard to festivals and traditions, the educational system, the professional environment, way of life and leisure activities, and obtain insight into contemporary culture in Germany. Opportunities will be made available for effective, self-motivated, independent learning. Students acquire teamwork skills through collaborative work in multinational mixed groups. |
