| additional remarks | In dieser Veranstaltung wird ein Zugang zu den politischen, wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und kulturellen Dimensionen der Technikentwicklung erarbeitet. An ausgewählten Beispielen aus der Technikgeschichte der ersten und zweiten Moderne wird analysiert, unter welchen Voraussetzungen moderne Technik entsteht und mit welchen Konsequenzen für Nutzer und Nichtnutzer die neuen Artefakte, Verfahren und Dienstleistungen gesellschaftlich angeeignet werden. Damit soll vor allem die Erkenntnis vermittelt werden, dass über den Erfolg moderner Technik nicht allein die Funktionstüchtigkeit im technischen Sinne entscheidet, sondern dass relevante soziale Gruppen in gesellschaftlichen Aushandlungsprozessen neue Technik durchsetzen oder verhindern.
