additional remarks In this course, students gain proficiency in German as a foreign language, including intercultural, regional and academic aspects, enabling them to express themselves independently and confidently in familiar situations, e.g. in the course of studies, work, leisure time and family, as well as talk about subjects of general interest like films, music, sports, etc. in the target language when standard language is employed. Students broaden and use a basic repertoire of logical main and subordinate clauses (e.g. final clause, consecutive clause, relative clause), learn and practice the use of reflexive verbs, the role and use of the subjunctive II, the passive and future tense. They reinforce and expand their knowledge of elementary grammar, such as the use of tenses and prepositions. They examine specific features of culture with regard to festivals and traditions, the educational system, the professional environment, way of life and leisure activities, and obtain insight into contemporary culture in Germany. Students acquire teamwork skills through collaborative work in multinational mixed groups.
