additional remarks This course is aimed at students currently writing a bachelor's or master's thesis or a PhD dissertation in English. The sessions go beyond questions of grammar and word choice and emphasize instead stylistic guidelines for forceful and clear English writing on a high academic level. Discussions have a slight emphasis on strategies for German speakers but are appropriate for students from any language background. Students are required to bring in an excerpt from their thesis to nearly every lesson. A significant amount of class time will be spent workshopping students' texts in small groups and with the lecturer. Students are strongly encouraged to make use of the English Writing Center during or after this course to receive additional one-to-one support. The course grants 3 ECTS points.
