additional remarks | Components of gas turbines and aeroengines: inlet, compressor, combustor, turbine, and nozzle. Engine performance. Mathematical background: vector and tensor analysis. Mechanics and thermodynamics of fluid flow, mass conservation, continuity equation, momentum equation, energy equation, stress-extension relations, turbulence models. Turbomachinery: principals of operation and basic terms, absolute and relative coordinates, similarity equations, characteristic values, compressor and turbine maps. Calculation of meridian layer (S2-layer): stream line curbature and stream line function, radial equilibrium. Profiling of rotor and stator blades (S1-layers): fluid flow, supersonic and transonic considerations. |
