Further Information

Courses are together with exams the building blocks for modules. Please keep in mind that information on the contents, learning outcomes and, especially examination conditions are given on the module level only – see section "Assignment to Modules" above.

additional remarks The course explains the physical and practical knowledge necessary for in-core fuel management in the nuclear industry. This is the practice of re-loading the reactor with fuel taking into consideration safety, length of operation, efficiency and nuclear waste generation and handling after the fuel is taken out for storage. The mathematical models in use today for the solution of the neutron transport equation are presented and explained. Taking a German 1300MWe pressurized water reactor as an example the safety and economically relevant aspects of in-core fuel management are taught with practical examples.
