New regulations of TUM GS with reduced mandatory elements

In anticipation of the automatic membership of doctoral candidates the new regulations of TUM GS (in German) are operative starting 1st of September 2013. TUM GS membership is only mandatory for doctoral candidates starting in 2014 and later. There is no additional requirement for doctoral candidates already on a doctoral candidacy list.

The new regulations declare many up-to-now mandatory elements of the qualification programme as optional:

  • there is no final seminar anymore
  • the courses for interdisciplinary qualification are optional now – but TUM GS still offers these courses and encourages all doctoral candidates to participate and take advantage of this unique opportunity
  • the internationalization phase is optional as well but TUM GS's financial support of up to 1600€ for internationalization is unchanged
