Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Content

Specifically, students are able to remember, understand and apply the following content within educational settings:
•Basic theories and processes of human learning (classical conditioning, operant conditioning, model-learning and cognitive learning)
•Basic models and processes of human memory (multi store model of memory, levels of processing model of memory, retrieval and forgetting)
•The principles of human reasoning, problem-solving and creativity
•Basic concepts and theories about human motivation and their application to educational settings, goals and goal-conflicts and the 3C-Model of Work Motivation

Learning Outcome

Upon successful completion of this module, students are able to remember, understand and apply basic concepts, theories, models and processes of general psychology within an educational setting.

Learning and Teaching Methods

The module consists of a series of lectures during which the aforementioned content will be presented and discussed. The content of each lecture will be presented orally with the help of accompanying slides and scripts. Students are expected to study the accompanying literature and critically reflect on its content.

Module Exam

Description of exams and course work

The assessment will take place in form of a written examination of 60 min. By means of this examination, the students shall demonstrate that they are able to remember, understand and apply the lectures’ content without additional auxiliaries and within a limited amount of time. The examination is designed in such a way that the intended learning outcomes can be assessed adequately. To this end, students will work on single-choice questions and open questions.

Exam Repetition

There is a possibility to take the exam in the following semester.
