Content
In the module a comprehensive overview of the basics of organization theory and management is given. Contents include, without limitation the different lines of development of organizational theory (eg bureaucracy approach of Max Weber, administrative approach of Henry Fayol, working scientific approach of FW Taylor), the organization of the internal area of the company and various leadership theories. Focus is to analyze and explain organizational problems on the basis of institutional economics. Likewise, topics such as leadership training and staff appraisal are discussed in detail. In addition, assessment center exercises will be presented and executed.
Learning Outcome
After successful completion of the module students will be able to analyze organizational issues and to develop their own solutions, inter alia on the basis of institutional economics. They will be able to develop and apply knowledge of the basics of management science and will be able to recognize their own leadership potential. They also have knowledge of possible tasks at assessment centers, and are able to prepare well for those. The criteria of good application documents are known to them and can be applied in the application phase.
Preconditions
Basic knowledge in business economics and general economics (eg.: gained in the module "General Economics", "Business Administration" and "Forestry Business Administration" the bachelor courses of Forest Science and Resource Management)

Learning and Teaching Methods
During the module the contents will be conveyed through lecture and presentation and with the help of selected examples. During the exercise students will have the opportunity to solve specific assessment center duties. In addition, students will be encouraged by means of compulsory reading for independent substantive discussion of the issues.

Description of exams and course work
The module will be assessed in a written examination on the contents of the Module Course. The students should demonstrate that they are able to analyze organizational issues and solve problems. Also they should be able to describe the principles of leadership training. The exam takes place at the end of the semester. The test duration is 60 minutes.
Exam Repetition
The exam may be repeated at the end of the semester. There is a possibility to take the exam in the following semester.
