Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Content

In this module, students gain basic knowledge of Norwegian as a foreign language, enabling them with minimal language skills to successfully manage basic everyday situations. They learn/practice basic vocabulary concerning family, everyday life, career, leisure time, and Norwegian culture and to report about day-to-day activities in simple main and subordinate clauses in the present tense. The course will cover requisite grammatical topics.

Learning Outcome

The module refers to level A1 of the CEFR. Students gain basic knowledge of Norwegian as a foreign language with general language orientation while taking into consideration intercultural and cultural aspects. After completion of this module, students will be able to use and understand everyday expressions and simple sentences aimed at fulfilling the concrete needs of everyday life. They can communicate their wants and needs to counterparts who speak clearly and slowly and are willing to help. Students will be able to ask and answer questions about themselves and their families and to make appointments

Learning and Teaching Methods

Course objectives will be achieved in an activity-oriented, communicative atmosphere; targeted listening, reading, writing and speaking exercises; individual, partner and group work; cooperative learning; guided self-learning with prepared materials covering fundamental grammar and communication patterns in the foreign language.
