In this module, students will increase their knowledge of Spanish as a foreign language, enabling them to actively and fluently communicate with a native speaker on topics of general interest or in familiar fields using logically-structured arguments. Students develop a broad and differentiated vocabulary on a broad range of topical issues. They learn/practice among other things how to quote other people; how to make requests and give orders; how to express agreement and disagreement. To do this, the necessary grammar will be covered.
The module is aimed at level "B2 - Independent Language Use" of the CEFR. Students acquire knowledge of Spanish as a foreign language at the standard language level with a focus on intercultural, cultural and academic aspects. Following completion of this course, students can, without strain, independently understand the main points of articles and reports from their own fields and areas of interest. Students can understand longer discussions and lectures on topical issues as well as topics within their areas of specialization, provided that speakers enunciate clearly. They are able to compose texts in their areas of study and to use more complex sentence structures as well as specialized vocabulary. They can explain a viewpoint in a discussion in a detailed and logically- structured fashion. They can interact clearly and coherently on many subjects in their fields or areas of interest.

Learning and Teaching Methods
The module consists of a seminar in which course objectives will be achieved in an activity-oriented, communicative atmosphere through listening, reading, writing and speaking exercises in individual, partner and group work, promoting collaborative learning. Controlled review of individual grammar elements through the use of guided self-learning in the form of prepared (and online) materials. Give reports and make presentations following prescribed criteria; moderated (role play) discussions.
