Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions


In this module, students gain further basic knowledge of Spanish as a foreign language, enabling them to successfully deal with everyday situations. They learn/practice expressing and reacting to opinions; discussing causes and effects; giving directions and advice; describing situations and results in the past; how to tell stories and more. The grammar necessary for this will be presented. Students will learn strategies for communicating in day-to-day situations successfully with minimal language skills. Additionally, opportunities will be made available to more effectively learn Spanish as a foreign language and thus to improve the student's ability to learn.

Learning Outcome

This module is aimed at level "A2 - Basic Language Use" of the CEFR. Students gain further basic knowledge of Spanish as a foreign language. After completion of this module, students will be able to understand familiar sentences and expressions on an expanded range of topics, such as basic information on everyday topics or topics relating to the school and work. Students will be able understand short, simple and clearly articulated statements and announcements. Communication is brief but effortless on a range of familiar topics and activities. Students can actively participate in brief discussions on familiar topics. They can understand longer texts and letters on familiar topics in which contemporary but simple everyday and business language is used and in which expected information is found. With the aid of fixed expressions, students are able to write short, informative texts or reports. Main and secondary clauses are used and connected with appropriate conjunctions.

Learning and Teaching Methods

The module consists of a seminar in which course objectives will be achieved in an activity-oriented, communicative atmosphere through listening, reading, writing and speaking exercises in individual, partner and group work, promoting collaborative learning. The fundamental language skills conveyed in the classroom are reinforced through the use of guided self-learning in the form of prepared (and online) materials.
