Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Content

In this module, students gain basic knowledge of Swedish as a foreign language, enabling them with minimal language skills to successfully manage such basic everyday situations. Students will learn/practice basic vocabulary and conversation and produces short texts, such as letters, summaries and short presentations; They deepen and expand their knowledge of grammar learned in level A1 and read simple texts; review pronouns; the complementation of possessive pronouns; the construction of complex main and subordinate clauses using modal verbs; the imperative; preterite; perfect and pluperfect; expressions of time; telling time; adverbs of time, place and direction; comparative adjectives.

Learning Outcome

This module refers to level A2 Elementary Language Use of the CEFR. Students gain basic knowledge of Swedish as a foreign language with general language orientation while taking into consideration intercultural and cultural aspects. After completion of this module, students will be able to understand and use simple sentences and figures of speech concerning an expanded spectrum of topics, such as basic information on everyday matters relating to school and career. Students will be able produce short informative texts and reports and understand longer texts on familiar topics in which contemporary but simple everyday language is used and in which expected information is found.

Learning and Teaching Methods

Course objectives will be achieved in an activity-oriented, communicative atmosphere through listening, reading, writing and speaking exercises in individual, partner and group work. Students will also have the opportunity for guided self-learning using prepared materials.
