Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Content

In this module students gain basic knowledge of Russian as a foreign language, taking into consideration intercultural and cultural aspects. Students learn to pose questions related to specific everyday situations and to respond to slowly and clearly articulated questions. They practice talking about their experiences in short sentences and common phrases, using basic vocabulary concerning such topics as family, leisure time, shopping, etc. Students thus gain knowledge of the grammatical structures necessary to make simple statements and pose questions in the present and simple past. Opportunities will be made available for self-motivated, independent learning.

Learning Outcome

The module refers to level A1 "Elementary Language Use" of the CEFR. After completion of this module, students will be able to communicate their wants and needs to counterparts who speak clearly and slowly and are willing to help. They will be able to pose and answer simple questions, understand and respond to basic life situations concerning immediate needs and familiar topics.

Learning and Teaching Methods

Course objectives will be achieved in an activity-oriented, communicative atmosphere through listening, reading, writing and speaking exercises in individual, partner and group work. Guided self-learning in the form of prepared materials will cover fundamental grammar and communication patterns in the foreign language.
