Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions


In this module, students expand their knowledge of Italian as a foreign language, enabling them to communicate independently and confidently in familiar situations at school, work, leisure, and the family about topics of general interest such as the environment, nature, immigration and society, when standard Italian is spoken. Students learn/practice "communicative functions": to compare opinions; express doubts, reservations, contrasting opinions; to give detailed descriptions of a place; make hypotheses; articulate requirements; communicate online. To do this, they will learn the necessary grammar.

Learning Outcome

This module refers to level B1 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).Students gain basic knowledge of Italian as a foreign language with a general language orientation while taking into consideration intercultural, cultural aspects, as well as issues related to their course of study. After completion of this module, students are able to communicate verbally and in writing about experiences and events using simple, connected grammatical structures, to describe their feelings and express opinions on familiar topics.

Learning and Teaching Methods

Learning is based on a pragmatic, communicative approach, which encourages in particular communicative competence through role playing. The inclusion of intercultural aspects gives students an awareness of cultural differences, enabling them to communicate appropriately in specific situations. Special exercises improve reading, writing and speaking skills. The module requires individual, partner and group work and includes Elearning.
