Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Content

In this module, students expand their knowledge of Italian as a foreign language, enabling them to communicate independently and confidently in familiar situations at school, work, leisure, etc., when standard Italian is spoken. Students learn/practice "communicative functions": to talk about their tastes in music and literature; to write brief summaries of texts; to formulate opinions, to give reasons for and defend them; to express needs, hopes, doubts and fears.To do this, they will learn the necessary grammar.

Learning Outcome

This module refers to level B1 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).Students gain basic knowledge of Italian as a foreign language with a general language orientation while taking into consideration intercultural, cultural aspects, as well as issues related to their course of study. After completion of this module, students are able to communicate verbally and in writing about experiences and events using simple, connected grammatical structures, to describe their feelings and express opinions on familiar topics.

Sound knowledge of module A2.2; placement test level B1.1.

Learning and Teaching Methods

Learning is based on a pragmatic, communicative approach, which encourages in particular communicative competence through role playing. The inclusion of intercultural aspects gives students an awareness of cultural differences, enabling them to communicate appropriately in specific situations. Special exercises improve reading, writing and speaking skills. The module requires individual, partner and group work, reports and presentations, and includes Elearning.

Written examination (60 minutes, no learning aids); active and regular class participation throughout the semester.
