Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Content

In this module, students gain further basic knowledge of French as a foreign language, enabling them to successfully deal with every-day situations. Listening and reading comprehension as well as speaking will be practiced with various listening exercises and texts (the world of work, new media, environmental protection, culture). The review and extension of grammar refers to communicative learning goals (emphasis: the future, gerunds, indirect speech, past perfect, the subjunctive). Students will learn strategies for successfully communicating orally and in writing with minimal language skills. Additionally, opportunities will be made available to more effectively learn French as a foreign language and thus to improve the student's ability to learn.

Learning Outcome

This module is aimed at level "A2 Basic Language Use" of the CEFR. Students gain further basic knowledge of French as a foreign language with general language orientation while taking into consideration intercultural and cultural aspects. After completion of this module, in discussions students will be able to understand and use familiar sentences and figures of speech on an expanded spectrum of topics, such as basic information on every-day topics or topics relating to the university and careers. They can understand longer texts and letters on familiar topics in which contemporary but simple every-day and business language is used and in which expected information is found. Students are able to write short, informative texts or reports on every-day situations and the university.

Preconditions
