Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

In this module, students review and expand their knowledge of French as a foreign language with general language orientation enabling them to successfully manage everyday situations, while taking into consideration intercultural and cultural aspects. Listening and reading comprehension as well as speaking will be practiced with various listening exercises and texts. The review and extension of grammar is focused on communicative learning goals (emphasis: past tenses, imperative, the future, relative pronouns, object pronouns, and adverbial pronouns 'en' and 'y', as well as prepositions). Students will learn strategies for successfully communicating orally and in writing with minimal language skills. Additionally, opportunities will be made available to more effectively learn French as a foreign language and thus to improve the student's ability to learn.

Learning Outcome

The module is aimed at level "A2 - Elementary Language Use" of the CEFR. After completion of this module, students will be able to understand and use simple sentences and expressions on a broader spectrum of familiar topics. These include subjects relating to everyday life and studies/career in an intercultural and cultural context. They can understand longer texts and letters on familiar topics in which common but simple every-day and business language is used and in which expected information is found. Students are able to write short, informative texts or reports on every-day situations and the university.
