This course includes note-taking in lectures, practising tutorial participation, academic writing and presenting a topic on a related field of study.

Learning Outcome

On completion of this module students will have gained some of the study skills required for participating in an English-speaking academic environment. Students are able to produce some academic level work in degree courses held in English.

This course involves practising study situations (participating in seminars, tutorials, note-taking in lectures), pair-work and group-work in an English-speaking academic environment.

Description of exams and course work

Class Participation (including Written Homework Assignments, In-Class Writing) 25%; Brief Presentation and/or Writing Assignment (to be revised) 25%; Final Written Examination 50%. Regular attendance and active participation in class are required.
