Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions


In this module grammatical forms are reviewed and practiced with a focus on topics of interest to students preparing for professions in business and technology branches. The module includes opportunities for students to practice both written and oral communication needed in professional life, with emphasis on soft skill areas such as negotiation, information aquisition, test reports, team collaboration, and project evaluation, as well as aspects of intercultural communication needed for achieving professional success. Emphasis is placed on developing strategies for continued learning.

Learning Outcome

After completion of this module, students will be prepared to communicate professionally in English. They will be able to read, write, and speak about a range of technical topics with greater fluency and accuracy. The students will be required to express themselves in both written and spoken contexts, and to show improvement in their use of the language.

Description of exams and course work

Grades for an oral presentation, homework assignments, and a final written examination contribute equally to the final course grade. Regular attendance and active participation in class is required.
