In this module, students gain knowledge of German as a foreign language, enabling them to discuss at native speaker level, both verbally and in writing, topics of general social interest and to present and debate the results of research within their fields of specialization correctly and concisely using academic language. Students test their ability to analyze complexly-structured and challengingly-formulated texts, specifically those with scientific content. They practice producing structured summaries of these texts and taking a position on them verbally and in writing. They develop strategies for the convincing presentation of scientific questions and research results in a lecture or essay within their field of specialization.
This module refers to level C2 of the CEFR. Students expand their knowledge of German as a foreign language, approaching the level of native speaker, in particular with regard to scientific/academic questions. Student can hold a talk in their field of specialization, largely free of error, and present and discuss the results of their research in fluent German. They can structure written essays in their field of specialization according to the requirements of academic/scientific discourse. They are able to discuss complex topics fluently and rigorously.

Learning and Teaching Methods
The module consists of a seminar in which course objectives will be achieved in an activity-oriented atmoshpere through the completion of specific listening, reading, writing and presentation exercises in individual, partner and group work. Students work independently, or in teams or on projects, on assigned topics and present their results independently. Students practice defending their position and critiquing the work of others in moderated discussion.
