Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Content

In this module students will be familiarized with the phonetic characteristics of syllabic Chinese; they will practice syllable pronunciation with differentiation in 4 tones; memorize circa 200 vocabulary words including their written form; learn simple sentence elements and rules of structure for building sentences; learn numerals and counting methods.

Learning Outcome

After completion of this module, students will be able to apply phonetic elements of the language; to show confidence in speaking by employing syllabic language; hold a dialogue using newly acquired vocabulary; compose simple written descriptions; speak on topics such as the date, weather, family members, etc.; convey information such as telephone number, birthday, sums of money, etc.

Preconditions

"Staying power", a solid sense of selfconfidence and positive attitude toward learning.
