Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Content

  1. Selection of topics and suitable demonstration experiments for physics education
  2. Preparation of experiments with devices commonly used in school
  3. Use of modern computer assisted data acquisition systems
  4. Qualitative and quantitative experimentation
  5. Preparing of the theoretical background (definitions, derivations, proof of physics principles)
  6. Combined presentation of experiment and theory using up to date media (powerpoint, applets, videos, internet)
  7. Observation of other participants during their presentation
  8. Discussion in the group (evaluation of presentations, suggestions for improvements)

Learning Outcome

After the successful participation at the module the student is able to:

  1. deal with a given physics subject using schoolbooks
  2. choose suitable experiments and prepare these with devices commonly used in school
  3. realise own experiment ideas
  4. be aware of dangers during experimentation
  5. introduce a physics topic in a motivating manner
  6. clearly demonstrate experiments to the audience and present the theoretical background
  7. analyse the own presentation and look for improvements
  8. analyse and evaluate the presentations of other participants

seminar:

In groups of two participants deal with a given physics topic and prepare experiments assisted permanently by supervisors. In the following week the prepared topic will be presented. In doing so each participant has to present one part of the topic in a self-dependent way. The group of all participants discusses the presentations.

Module Exam

Description of exams and course work

Die Prüfungsform besteht aus einer Laborleistung. Diese umspannt die Vorbereitung inkl. Literaturstudium, die experimentelle Entwicklungsphase der Demonstration sowie die Durchführung der Demonstration unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der experimentellen und didaktischen Fähigkeiten, der kommunikativen Präsentationskompetenz und dem letztendlich im Auditorium („die Schüler“) erzielten Erkenntnisgewinn. Die Bewertung erfolgt durch die betreuenden Dozenten, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der angestrebten Lernergebnisse. In Abhängigkeit vom jeweiligen Thema wird also beispielsweise bewertet, ob mit Hilfe von Schulbüchern ein sinnvoller Stoffumfang abgesteckt wurde, ob geeignete Experimente ausgewählt und mit schultypischen Geräten umgesetzt wurden, ob auch eigene Experimentierideen verwirklicht wurden, ob Gefahrenquellen beim Experimentieren erkannt und beherrscht wurden, ob an das gestellte Thema in motivierender Weise herangeführt wurde, ob die Experimente vor Publikum in nachvollziehbarer Weise vorgeführt wurden oder ob der theoretische Hintergrund angemessen erläutert wurde. Insgesamt bearbeitet jede Gruppe fünf verschiedene Themen. Diese Themen können beispielsweise sein:

elektrischer Widerstand, optische Beugung, Kreisbewegungen, elektromagnetische Schwingungen, Wärme
