Basic Information

PH9114 is a semester module in German language at Bachelor’s level which is offered every semester.

This Module is included in the following catalogues within the study programs in physics.

  • Physics Modules for Students of Education

If not stated otherwise for export to a non-physics program the student workload is given in the following table.

Responsible coordinator of the module PH9114 in the version of SS 2011 was the Dean of Studies at Physics Department.

Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions

Content

  • Educational objective, legitimation and conception of physics education
  • Competence models and standard definitions
  • Demonstration of finding and working methods in physics
  • Pupils' ideas and typical learning difficulties
  • Interest in physics education
  • Experiments in physics education (objective, types, didactical potential, devices used in school, safety)
  • Handling of media and presentation in physics education
  • Tasks of a teacher regarding pedagogical-didactical aspects

Learning Outcome

After the successful participation at the module the student is able to:

  1. apply elementary knowledge about central fields in physics didactics
  2. develop suitable teaching approaches, concepts and methods
  3. stimulate interest in physics education
  4. prepare physics topics for school in an educational objective and pupil orientated manner
  5. handle devices and educational material commonly used in school
  6. estimate their own qualification and tendency to the teaching profession in a realistic manner

Preconditions

Module Exam

Description of exams and course work

Each participant has to do following tasks in order to prove that she /he has understood the fundamentals of didactics in physics and that she/he is able to apply this knowledge in selected examples:

Lecture: simulations in physics education, demonstration and discussion of a free-hand experiment

Partner lecture: pupil imaginations

Group work: educational objectives in physics education
