Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions


In dem Modul werden Aufbau und Funktionsweise von modernen Teilchendetektoren, die z.B. bei großen Experimenten am CERN, aber auch an kleineren Beschleunigern und in der Astrophysik zur Anwendung kommen, besprochen. Dafür werden zunächst die Wechselwirkungsprozesse sowohl von geladenen als auch neutralen Teilchen mit Materie im Detail besprochen, da diese die Eigenschaften von Teilchendetektoren bestimmen. Darauf basierend werden Detektoren zur Orts-, Impuls-, Energiemessung sowie zur Teilchenidentifizierung vorgestellt. Die Verarbeitung elektronischer Signale und die Erfassung großer Datenmengen, wie sie in der Teilchenphysik anfallen, werden diskutiert.

Module Exam

Description of exams and course work

In an oral exam the learning outcome is tested using comprehension questions and sample problems.

In accordance with §12 (8) APSO the exam can be done as a written test. In this case the time duration is 60 minutes.

Exam Repetition

The exam may be repeated at the end of the semester.
