Information encoding in DNA; DNA topology and biological adaptations of topology; advanced topics of DNA replication and repair; gene expression and it regulation; genetic switches; systems biology of genomes

Learning Outcome

After successful attendance, the participants are able to judge the relevance of physical-chemical basics for storage, propagation and maintenance of genetic information. The module introduces current literature and current problems of the field.

Preconditions

Biophysics in cells; advanced knowledge of molecular biology and/or genetics.

Module Exam

Description of exams and course work

In an oral exam the learning outcome is tested using comprehension questions and sample problems.

In accordance with §12 (8) APSO the exam can be done as a written test. In this case the time duration is 60 minutes.

Exam Repetition

The exam may be repeated at the end of the semester.
