Content, Learning Outcome and Preconditions
Key experiments of particle physics are experiments which contributed significantly to establish the standard model of particle physics. These experimental observations had an major impact on the derivation of the standard model, test its predictions or even questioned the model.
Several key experiments and their implications on the standard model will be discussed in seminar talks by students.
After successful participation in the module the student can use the basic methods of literature retrieval, condense their knowlegde from scientific papers into a presentation and obtain presentation skills.
They have learned about recent topics in the field of research.
Basic knowledge of the standard model of particle physics, as obtained e.g. in PH0014, PH0015.
